Davanti’s top UK race tracks to drive on with Protoura Race
Thursday 25th September 2025The UK is rich in motorsport history, being a key player in many worldwide competitions from MotoGP to Formula One and the origin of iconic car brands such as McLaren, Aston Martin and Mini Cooper. So it’s not surprising that with this rich history, there are a lot of playgrounds for those who are looking to experience the action on the track.
Silverstone
Silverstone, often called the home of British motorsport, is arguably one of the most famous race tracks in the world. Located in picturesque Northamptonshire, it hosts prestigious events ranging from Formula 1 to our own Davanti Race team at the Mini Challenge Clubsport and the Swift Sport Challenge Championships.
With its fast straights, challenging corners, and rich motorsport history, Silverstone promises an exciting and thrilling race day experience. The corners themselves reflect its past as an ex-airfield, with names like Copse (after nearby woodland), Abbey, and Luffield (after a former monastery, farm, and village) aptly chosen due to their proximity.
Brands Hatch
Similar to Silverstone, Brands Hatch, located in Kent, is a historic race track boasting an operation that is nearing 100 years old. Known for its dramatic elevation changes with the tight corners of Paddock Hill and Druids, Brands Hatch requires drivers to have a great deal of precision and responsiveness, while offering crowds amazing views of the track all around.
Oulton Park
The beautiful Cheshire race track, Oulton Park, stands as an exhilarating race track, with exciting and dramatic elevation changes and blind turns, which ensure even the most seasoned racers need to be vigilant.
Oulton Park has a long history, which defines it as an iconic track. Originally the Oulton Estate, the manor house burned down in the early 1900s, and the land was subsequently used by the military as a staging camp.
Today, it hosts major events such as the BTCC and British GT Championship.
Cadwell Park
Nicknamed the mini Nurburgring, Cadwell Park has been hosting races since 1934. Located in Lincolnshire, the circuit is particularly well-known by those who love to race on two wheels, although it’s a hit with all motorsport fans. It’s particularly famous for its British Superbike Championship event.
Legends, such as James Hunt and Giacomo Agostini, have raced on this track. Why not seek out the stunning mountainous scenes in your own vehicle? Cadwell Park hosts regular track days for cars and bikes.
Designed for the track
Our Protoura Race tyre excels in its capabilities as a semi-slick. It has all of the advantages of any other semi-slick tyre, and it goes above and beyond in its performance – so much so that it is now the control tyre in the Swift Sport Challenge and the Mini Challenge Clubsport.
Feedback from the live racing has shown that Protoura Race provides excellent control in the wet and, unlike other race tyres, it operates well even from cold, so it doesn’t need to be brought up to temperature in the same way as other racing tyres to achieve the desired grip.
It has also proven to withstand degradation well, which is typically a problem in racing due to the softer compound and the demands that the tyres are put under on track.
