Zelos catches podium bug with Mini and Touring Car eSeries successes
Wednesday 3rd March 2021A late lunge for the line in the MSL FastR Touring Car eSeries completed a double-podium weekend for Davanti Tyres eSports driver Dan Zelos.
Earlier in the day he had taken to the track at Silverstone in the Mini Challenge eSeries where he scored a much-needed third place finish ahead of the final round next weekend.
Riding high, he went into the Touring Car eSeries at Croft where, in a dramatic race two, he capitalised on a late mistake by rival Mike Epps before diving for the line on the finishing straight to clinch another third place by just over two hundredths of a second.
“I’d enjoyed some good racing and when I saw a chance I had to go for it,” said Zelos. “It would have been easy to bank the points but racers race and I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to grab a second podium so I went for it and fortune favours the bold.
“I’ve been sim racing for a few months now as a substitute for not being able to get out on track to test. I’ve got to grips with a new style of racing and sharpened up. I definitely feel ready for the real season to begin but there are a few virtual races to come yet!
Races are livestreamed by the Mini Challenge and Virtual Reality Racing Club on their facebook channels.
