Wigan Warriors win World Club Challenge and crowned best rugby league team for the fifth time
Monday 25th March 2024In February, rugby league team and partner of Davanti Tyres, Wigan Warriors added to its trophy cabinet after winning the World Club Challenge (WCC) for the fifth time, against Penrith Panthers.
At the DW Stadium, Wigan Warriors took on Penrith Panthers in a challenge where the best teams from the Betfred Superleague and the Australian NRL compete against each other to be crowned the best rugby league team in the world.
For the occasion, Wigan Warriors commissioned a special retro WCC shirt, which echoed past kits for the club and Davanti’s logo as ever was proudly on display on the back of the shirts.
It was a competitive game, with both teams taking the leads throughout a match of unrelenting tackles, passes and defending. However, as the final whistle blew the score was 16-12 in favour of Wigan and they claimed their fifth trophy in the WCC, having won the challenge previously in 1987, 1991, 1993 and 2017.
