Wigan Warriors take the Challenge Cup and their fourth trophy of the year
Wednesday 26th June 20248th June 2024 – a day to remember for Davanti Tyres’ partner and Rugby League team, Wigan Warriors.
On Saturday 8th June, Wigan Warriors took on their local rivals Warrington Wolves in the Challenge Cup Final. And after a pulsating game, when the final whistle blew, they were crowned champions.
This win sees the team complete the British rugby league set, taking hold of the Challenge Cup trophy after already hoarding the World Club Challenge, Super League title and League Leaders’ Shield.
But the Challenge Cup Final was by no means a breezy win for the Warriors, who faced some tricky moments on the pitch. Warrington Wolves achieved the first points of the game from a penalty, and within the opening 5 minutes, both Mike Cooper (Wigan Warriors) and Matt Dufty (Warrington Wolves) were shown a yellow card and sent to the sin bin for 10 minutes.
Feeling the tense atmosphere, Warrington Wolves put up a good fight, but momentum in the game shifted firmly towards Wigan as their opponents began to make errors.
As the final whistle blew, Wigan Warriors celebrated an 18-8 win and claimed the Challenge Cup.
It has been a fantastic season for our long-standing partner, who now holds all four major rugby trophies at the same time. We’re excited to see what the rest of the 2024 season brings!
