Sir Chris scores win in Prototype Cup’s Silverstone opener
Monday 31st May 2021Sir Chris Hoy was victorious in race two of the Prototype Cup’s opening round at Silverstone after a tough battle.
Racing in the Revolution Trophy, Protoura Sport ambassador Sir Chris took pole position for race one but was dragged into battles down the field.
In race two he set out to correct that and spend most of the race jostling for first with Chris Short in an exciting example of racecraft form both drivers. Unfortunately towards the end of the race Short spun out at Luffield, giving Sir Chris a healthy margin to the finish line.
“That was fun,” said Sir Chris afterwards. “It was a really good battle with Chris but I just focused on one lap at a time. It’s a cliché but you can’t think too far ahead, even when your opponent spins out right next to you!
“But that’s just motorsport, that can happen to anyone at any time, I’m just going to enjoy the win.”
